What it is
Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide analogue of the immunomodulatory peptide tuftsin, developed in Russia as an anxiolytic with nootropic properties. It is frequently studied alongside Semax.
Mechanism
Selank modulates GABAergic transmission (allosteric effect on GABA-A receptors), influences serotonin and enkephalin metabolism by inhibiting enkephalin-degrading enzymes, and increases BDNF expression. It also has documented effects on cytokine balance.
