What it is
HGH Fragment 176-191 is the C-terminal 16-amino-acid fragment of human growth hormone. It was isolated to separate the lipolytic activity of GH from its growth-promoting and glucose-raising effects.
Mechanism
The fragment mimics the way native GH regulates fat metabolism: it stimulates lipolysis and inhibits lipogenesis in adipose tissue, in animal models mainly via β3-adrenergic receptor pathways, without activating the GH receptor and therefore without raising IGF-1 or affecting insulin sensitivity.
Research areas
- Lipolysis and fat metabolism
- Obesity models
- Glucose homeostasis (absence of effect)
- Adipose tissue biology
Safety and metabolism
Early clinical studies reported no effect on glucose, IGF-1 or growth markers. Short half-life. Human efficacy data are limited.
Why this amount
5 mg is the standard research vial for this fragment.
