What it is
Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide analogue of the immunomodulatory peptide tuftsin, developed as a clinical anxiolytic with nootropic properties. It is frequently studied alongside Semax.
Mechanism
Selank modulates GABAergic transmission (allosteric effect on GABA-A receptors), influences serotonin and enkephalin metabolism by inhibiting enkephalin-degrading enzymes, and increases BDNF expression. It also has documented effects on cytokine balance.
